Game balls are one of the most profound ways that Host Terminals recognizes employees for safety and service. From significant safety initiatives to outstanding efforts, the Game Ball gets passed to each new recipient as an accolade. Although this team member is humble and prefers to remain out of the spotlight, HOST is honored to award Davant, LA HSSE Coordinator Jerry Sellstrom with the Host Terminals Game Ball for his role in achieving a milestone at United Bulk Terminals!
For over a year, Sellstrom worked countless hours to prepare the facility for obtaining a special permit. He regularly maintained the ditch lines and took soundings of the ponds, in addition to ensuring all the day-to-day environmental duties were overseen – like monitoring pH to ensure it remains at acceptable levels. In addition to the daily maintenance and preparation, Sellstrom spent many days speaking with various consultants and entities, and entertaining various regulatory visitors.
Thanks to Jerry’s diligence and hard work, UBT received the final approval of the permit application.
Apart from Sellstrom’s commitment to environmental excellence at UBT, he is a champion of safety. He regularly leads discussions, training and initiatives at the facility – ensuring that HOST’s team members are equipped in both knowledge and training, and with the power to stop.
“Jerry is a HOST hero with the amount of dedication he commits to his team,” said Chris Holt, Director of Health and Safety. ” He does an exceptional job of leading the safety culture at Davant and committing efforts to the environment.”
Well done Jerry, thank you for all you do!
